Mexico City Trip 2015: MUCHO Mundo Chocolate Museum & Cafe

We found out that there is this cute chocolate museum called MUCHO (Mundo Chocolate) around the corner from where we were staying through Airbnb and decided to check it out! This museum offered a ton of great information through visuals and interactivity with smell and touch. The tour actually starts with a taste of one of the cocoa seeds :)

We learned that chocolate making originally came from Mexico and was exported to Europe and to the rest of the world. There are currently 3 different types of cocoa beans (Criollo, Trinitario, and Forastero). Each offering different characteristics in flavor. The kind that grows in Mexico is Criollo (the finest chocolate with a delicate, sweet, and slightly bitter flavor) but only represents 10% of the world's production. In one portion of the museum tour, you enter a room filled with chocolate mounted on the wall.

There is also a cute gift shop at the end of the tour and a cafe where you can try their amazing chocolates and drinks!!
